Rocks Tables

On the Rocks, 2020, foam, steel, polyurethane, resin, gold, wood

In the Fall of 2020 with Covid in full force and all my access to shop machinery cut off I decided to explore EPS foam as a creative material. I found my process with a myriad of so called tools, combination of carving and shaving. In order to give physical weight and integrity to the pieces they have steel skeletons and are covered in a bombproof polymer. I used pigment infused epoxy resin. The tops were hand carved out of wood and gilded. These are pull-up drinks tables.
